Create Cant Dialog Options

Start Station

Start station of the cant alignment.

End Station

End station of the cant alignment.

Speed Scheme

Speed scheme to be used in the calculation. Speed schemas are created using Speed Table command.

Equilibrium Constant

Constant used for calculating equilibrium cant values.

Applied Constant

Constant used for calculating applied cant values.

Rotate About

Specifies the rotation point for the cant. Select Inside Rail, Center, Outside Rail, Left Rail, or Right Rail.

Percent on Linear

Applies to what percentage of the Virtual Transition Length is placed on to the linear element. This value is typically 50%, which means that half of the virtual transition length is on the linear and half is on the circular.

Import Cant From Table

Imports cant values from a user defined table.

A cant lookup table is a two-column text file that correlates curve radius values with cant values. The radius-cant pairs are listed by increasing radius. For any given radius, the software applies the cant corresponding to the largest radius that is less than or equal to the curve radius. For example, using the table shown here, a curve with a 2000-meter radius would be assigned a cant value of 150.0 millimeters.

The user also has the option of using an Italian cant table, which does not use the standard formula and rounding.

When selected tool uses a user defined cant table instead of cant formula. Cant table can be created using Project Explorer > Rail Settings > Cant Tables. Rows in the tables includes a radius versus applied cant entry. Program finds the cant value to be applied by comparing horizontal curvature to cant values. If the radius value is between two entries in the table, program uses the lower radius value for calculations and does not do interpolation.
